Kia ora! This itinerary will take you through some of the picturesque and charming towns as you travel from Auckland to Tauranga. Although it's a brief journey, there's so much to explore!

Before heading out, spend some time enjoying Auckland’s vibrant atmosphere. Consider visiting the Auckland Domain, exploring the Auckland Art Gallery, or grabbing breakfast at one of the cafes in Ponsonby.


Leg 1: Auckland to Bombay Hills (30 minutes)

What to Do: Stop at the Bombay Hills lookout for stunning views of the surrounding countryside. There are also a few cafes nearby where you can grab a quick bite.


Leg 2: Bombay Hills to Paeroa (1 hour)

What to Do: Visit Paeroa, renowned for its Paeroa L&P Bottle (Lemon & Paeroa) and local shops. Don’t forget to snap a picture with the giant bottle!


Leg 3: Paeroa to Waihi (30 minutes)

What to Do: Explore the historic Waihi Gold Mine, where you can take a guided tour to learn about gold mining history or simply walk around the impressive open pit.


Leg 4: Waihi to Katikati (30 minutes)

What to Do: Stop by Kaiaua and visit the Katikati Mural Town, which features numerous murals painted by local artists that tell the stories of the area. Enjoy a leisurely stroll and appreciate the art.


Leg 5: Katikati to Tauranga (30 minutes)

What to Do: Arrive in Tauranga, where you can relax on the beach, particularly Mount Maunganui, known for its stunning views from the summit. Spend the afternoon on the beach, or explore the local shops and cafes.

Te Puke: Famous for its kiwifruit, stop by the Kiwi 360 experience to learn more about this iconic fruit and enjoy some delicious kiwifruit ice cream.

Omokoroa: A lovely coastal village ideal for a scenic detour, offering stunning views of the Bay of Plenty.
